Sunburn began as a photojournalistic project while I was traveling around South and SE Asia over the summer of 2017. All imagery was captured on 35mm and later reinterpreted as risograph prints. The beauty of Riso is not just the grain-like texture, but the brilliance in saturation of spot colors. Printing a photograph has such a quality that is unachieved compared to looking at an image though a screen. In creating this zine, I challenged myself to make something that is equal parts visually entertaining and personal. Interweaved between spreads are writings about my own experiences: love, loss and desire.
